Kick Off National Public Health Week with ETR

Three lifestyle images side by side. First one is an adult and young person outside gardening, next one is a teacher animatedly gesturing in the classroom, and the last one is a doctor checking the health of a baby while in an adult’s lap.

This week marks the 30th anniversary of National Public Health Week (NPHW), created by the American Public Health Association (APHA).

APHA developed this campaign to unite communities nationwide to celebrate public health successes, look ahead to upcoming challenges, and create a vision for the future. The theme this year, “It Starts Here,” is in recognition of how public health starts with each of us making a difference in our homes and communities.

ETR is a proud champion of science with over 40 years in the public health field. Every resource we create in collaboration with the collective of talented, multidisciplinary staff at our organization and our partners takes us one step closer to a world where all individuals and communities achieve their best health.

Advancing public health involves the creation of materials and resources that reach the communities most impacted. We’re excited to share that the Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC), a project of ETR, published their first case study summary, highlighting a material campaign intended for pregnant mothers and their families, by United Indian Health Services, Inc. (UIHS).

The summary highlights several best practices for educational material development, and while this work does not represent all Native populations in California, it provides guidance and best practices specific to UIHS’ local Tribal populations in Northern California that may be of value to others. Estimated read time: 4 minutes.
